PHILOSOPHY

We believe the boys need a dynamic environment in order to get the most out of scouting.  However, they also need a guiding hand in getting their work done in a timely manner.

We offer a flexible schedule of events throughout the year as opposed to having fixed schedule of traditional events.  Most of the boys are involved in more than one after-school activity, and we try to adjust our meetings and activites to suit them.

We have two patrols, the Sharks which are the experienced scouts and the Bobwhites which are the less experienced and New Scouts.  The boys in each patrol are more age equivalent, so school experiences, common friends and general conversation are age appropriate.  Also, the more experienced scouts in each patrol have an opportunity to pass on their experiences to the less experienced.  We also have a Troop Guide assigned to the Bobwhites as yet another level of leadership training opportunity.

HISTORY

The troop was started in June 2004 as six Webelos from Cub Scout Pack 76 needed a troop closer to the Pocono Woodlands than the troops in Milford, Matamoras or Dingman's Ferry were.  We originally started meeting in the Pocono Woodlands Clubhouse, eventually moved to a private residence with a large basement, and eventually outgrew that.  We moved to the Shohola Elementary School's Art Room, outgrew that, and have now been meeting in the Shohola Elementary School Cafeteria.
